Needs From: Barry County

Volunteer: Volunteer with Exchange Students!

Do you enjoy learning about other cultures? Would you like to support international exchange students in navigating their experience in the USA? YFU is currently looking for volunteers interested in mentoring students as an Area Representative in Hastings. Area Representatives meet with their assigned international exchange student and host family once a month to check in and make sure that the student is settling into their host family and community well. We also ask Area Reps to make contact with the school a few times a year to check on the student’s grades and to make sure they are also settling into the school community. YFU provides training for this position, so no prior knowledge or expertise is necessary. Time commitment is typically 2-3 hours per month for each student and the schedule is flexible.

Youth For Understanding offers excellent training to prepare you for the role as well as support along the way. When you join YFU, you become a part of one of the oldest and most respected programs in international student exchange.

For more information, contact your local Volunteer Coordinator at 202-774-5228 or email volunteers@yfu.org.
